Record increase in seized synthetic drugs

Although the number of arrests dropped by 0.94%, the amount of synthetic drugs seized by competent forces saw a record increase (up 4,353kg from 2018).

The above data was announced by Deputy Minister of Public Security, Deputy Head of Steering Committee 138 / CP Le Quy Vuong at the National Conference on preliminary review of the first six months of 2019 of the Steering Committee of 138 / CP and the National Steering Committee of 389, chaired by Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, on July 25.

Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong said that the operation of transnational drug trafficking lines is increasing.

Recently, competent forces have busted many large drug trafficking lines, led by foreigners to transit Vietnam to a third country.

The offenders took advantage of establishing manufacturing, business, import, export enterprises or warehouse operators to hoard, buy and sell drugs and took advantage of polices for temporary import to transport drugs.

Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong added that in the first six months of 2019, the country had 25,617 criminal cases, reducing 0.99% over the same period in 2018 but criminal offenses tended to be more dangerous, some cases left serious consequences; there were many cases of murder and assets due to family conflict, jealousy, superstition and drug use

Crimes sheltered behind enterprises and ran yards and terminals, offered "black credit", mortgage service, third-party debt collectors, together with illegal arrest of people, deliberately fight against people causing serious injury, asset property, making people anxious.

Tricks of economic and corruption crimes are increasingly sophisticated. They use information technology and GPS devices to commit crimes and monitor and cope with competent forces. Bank officers coordinate with outside people to counterfeit credit cards for appropriation of customer’s deposits.

Violations of laws on the environment is still a problem, especially discharging activities at industrial zones.

Illegal transport of smuggled goods which fail to meet food safety and hygiene standards and the use of materials and additives of unknown origin causes anxiety and affects people's health.
