To continue to effectively perform the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, Steering Committee 389 of Quang Ninh also has requested member branches and local Steering Committees of 389 to continue effective implementation of directions from all levels on the fight against smuggling, illegal cross-border transportation of goods, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and drugs.

Steering Committee 389 Quang Ninh assigned the Quang Ninh Customs Department (Standing Office of Steering Committee 389 Quang Ninh) to advise and promulgate a peak anti-smuggling plan before, during and after the 2024 Lunar New Year, focusing on items: firecrackers, food, consumer goods.

At the same time, the Steering Committee 389 has requested the units: Market Surveillance Department, Customs Department, Border Guard Command, Police to direct competent forces to pay special attention, strengthen inspection, control and handling of violations against counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights, and goods that do not ensure hygienic and food safety from production, processing, packaging to consumption;

Assigning the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with other forces to implement solutions to promote e-commerce development; combat smuggling and trade fraud in e-commerce activities, strengthen tax management for e-commerce activities and business on digital platforms in the province.

It is known that in the first 10 months of 2023, the authorities in Quang Ninh province and handled 2,357 cases of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods with a value of goods worth VND20.16 billion (up 1.7% in number, down 0.1% in value year-on-year); and criminally handled 32 cases with 43 arrests, and fined 2,119 cases.
