Prosecution for smuggling of consumer goods through Cat Lai port

The company imported a shipment under Customs declaration dated 29th August 2016. According to the Customs declaration, imported goods were the stainless steel sinks, no shower, no levers, no let-off part, quantity is 725 pieces, total value is $US 8,500.
On 15th September 2016, Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch coordinated with the Supervision and Enforcement Team of the General Department of Customs to conduct physical inspection the above shipment.
As a result, besides the incorrect quantity of the goods as declaration, Customs authorities also discovered large amounts of goods without Customs declaration, including the 348 stainless steel washbasins, 300 sets of plastic pots, jack knife box 700, 360 female stainless steel trays and 1,730 sets of stainless steel drainage. Total value of violated goods is over 630 million vnd, tax fraud of nearly 200 million vnd.
According to Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch, Hung Cu Co. Ltd had repeated their violations by non-declaration or incorrect declaration of name, type, amount of goods for tax evasion. Therefore, the company’s explanation for their confusion in freight forwarding is unfounded. So, the prosecution has been established for the company.
