Preliminary assessment of Vietnam international merchandise trade performance in the second half of March, 2022

Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of March was over US dollars 36.66 billion, up by 20% as compared to the first half of March-2022. Furthermore, in the first 3 months of 2022, Vietnam was in trade surplus of USD 1.46 billion.

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods in the first 3 months of 2022 totaled US dollars 176.75 billion in value terms, climbed up by 14.3% as compared to the performance of the same period of last year.

In the view of Foreign Direct Invested (FDI) traders, the total value of exportation and importation in the first 3 months of 2022 reached USD 123.05 billion, up by 12.8% in comparison to the same period of 2021.

Export:

As compared to the first half of March-2022, second half of the month increase in the total export value (26% - USD 3.99 billion equally) is reflected by upturn in telephones, mobile phones and part thereof (up by 34.8% - USD 972 million equally); computer, electrical products (up by 34.8% - USD 787 million equally); machine, tools and equipments (up by 24.6% - USD 397 million equally)…

Totally, in the first 3 months of 2022 total export value from Vietnam was USD 89.1 billion, climbed up 13.4% as compared to the same period of 2021 (equivalent to USD 10.55 billion in absolute value terms).

Import:

The first half to second half of March widen in the total of import value (13.9%) reflected upturn in computer, electrical products (up by 12.2% - USD 461 million equally); petroleum products (up by 34.2% - USD 197 million equally); telephone mobile phones and part thereof (up by 20.9% - USD 179 million equally)…

From January to second half of March-2022, total import value into Vietnam was USD 87.64 billion, went up by 15.2% as compared to the same period of 2021 (equivalent to USD 11.54 billion in absolute value terms).
