Preliminary assessment of Vietnam international merchandise trade performance in the first half of February, 2021

The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half (01-15/02/2021) of February-2021 , Vietnam’s total exports of US dollars 9.94 billion and imports of US dollars 9.24 billion resulted in a trade surplus of US dollars 695 million. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of February was US dollars 19.18 billion, down by 33.3% as compared to the second half of January-2021.

In the view of FDI traders, the value of exportation in the first half of February reached USD 7.51 billion, down by 35.7% and the value of importation reached 6.37 billion, down by 26% as compared to the second half of January 2021. Therefore, from January 1st to February 15th of 2021, the total value of FDI merchandise trade went up by 39.6% to US dollar 53.03 billion.

When compared with the second half of January-2021, export of first half of February-2021 decreased by 36.1%, mostly as a result of the downturn registered in telephones, mobile phones and parts thereof (down by 46.3% - USD1.5 billion); machine, tools and equipments ( down by 37% - USD 665 milion); computer electrical product ( down by 26.6% -USD 581 milion); textiles and garments (down by 22.3% - USD 318 million);…

According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in November of 2024, a 4.1% downwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of October 2024.
