Tax debt tens of billions
According to HCM City Customs Department, many enterprises with large amount of tax debt have been enforced to suspend their import and export as per proposal by HCM City Tax Department.
On August 11, the Investment/Processing Customs Branch under HCM City Customs Department discontinued procedures for imports and exports involving SaiGon Telecom Engineering Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company (69 Ngo Tat To, Ward 21, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, tax code: 0302905164) in line with HCM City Tax Department’s decision.
According to the city taxman’s decision, the company owed taxes worth over VND16.2 billion and failed to pay the taxes since it missed the deadline for more than three months.
In addition, the Investment/Processing Customs Branch also discontinued procedures for imports and exports involving the Construction and Building Materials Company No.4 Joint Stock Company (address: 02 Tran Nao, An Khanh Ward, Thu Duc city, HCM city, tax code: 0300605479) in accordance with the city tax department’s Official Dispatch No. 9401/CTTPHCM-QLN date August 4.
The Construction and Building Materials Company No.4 Joint Stock Company owed taxes worth VND 10.5 billion and failed to pay taxes since it missed the deadline for more than three months.
The decisions, which have been in effect from August 11, 2023 to August 10, 2024, will be terminated until the companies fully pays their tax arrears.

The Construction and Building Materials Company No.4 Joint Stock Company was established in 1998 with 23 business lines in the field of construction materials.
Collecting about VND200 billions of tax debts
According to HCM City Tax Department, the department has requested customs branches to enforce tax debtors in accordance with the proposals of HCM City Tax Department and local tax branches.
Deputy Manager of Investment/Processing Customs Branch Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang said that the suspension of customs procedures for imports and exports of domestic tax debtors. HCM Tax Department has sent the Official Dispatch to the Customs to enforce to suspend import and exports to each tax debtor. Therefore, the Customs will base on these Notification to issue decisions on enforcement. The branch has issued over 300 decisions on tax enforcement worth about VND2,700 billion.
The coordination in tax debt enforcement has achieved positive results. Many tax debtors have fulfilled their tax obligations. According to statistics, about 50 enterprises have paid taxes worth about VND200 billion after being enforced to suspend customs procedures.
According to HCM City Customs Department, as of June 30, the total tax debt amount increased by 16.6% compared with December 31 to VND53,022. The Department will actively coordinate with the local taxman in revenue collection.
