Lang Son: There is no situation of illegal exporting pigs through border gate, opening roads

Facing reports of exporting illegally pig via Lang Son border gates, a representative of Lang Son Customs Department said that all the border gates as well as the customs management area do not face the situation of illegal export of pigs and it has never happened in the form of border trade.
To grasp the situation and prevent the illegal export and import of pork across the border, Customs Newspaper’s reporter contacted Tan Thanh and Coc Nam Customs Branch and received confirmation there was no illegal export of pork to China or protection for this activity at the border or in the area of customs management.
A representative of Tan Thanh Customs Branch affirmed that 100 percent there was no situation of illegal export of pigs through Tan Thanh border gate. In the province, if there was a situation of illegal export of pigs, they would be frozen products such as pork leg or pork offal. Also, at Tan Thanh border gate, there is no situation of illegal export of pigs or frozen pork products.
A representative of Tan Thanh Customs Branch also said that from now to the Lunar New Year, the border posts would operate 24/7 in coordination with neighbouring country to make barbed wire fences to prevent the situation of illegal export of pig across borders along the mountain road.
The reporter also spoke with a representative of Coc Nam Customs Branch, who saidthere was no situation of illegal export of pigs across border. The unit has inspected and controlled each vehicle transporting import – export goods through the border gate. In particular, the unit also coordinated with the Border Defence force and the Police to perform duty 24/7 at trails.
Besides controlling illegal export of pigs at border gates, trails and opening roads, according to a representative of the Coc Nam Border Control Station, the unit has also built a plan and coordinated with customs and police forces to inspect and supervise people and vehicles. The competent forces have even set up shackles and posts on both sides of the border gates to prevent the illegal export of pigs. Therefore, the situation of illegal exporting pigs is not possible.
The Chinese side has built concrete walls and barbed wire fence stretching across the border with Vietnam to prevent illegal goods entering. Also on the Vietnamese side, the forces patrolled, controlled and set up barricades at trails that can see smuggling.
According to Lang Son Market Management Department, in November and the first half of December, the Police and Market Management forces seized 35 tonnes of pork leg that was transported to Lang Son for export to China. On December 8, Lang Son Market Management force worked with authorities in the border area (Dinh Lap district) to seize the case of transporting 19 pigs (weight of 2,459 kg) to sell to China.
