According to the local customs department, from the beginning of the year, smuggling, trade fraud and illegal transportation of goods across border gates have not seen complicated developments.
The situation has been basically controlled by the Customs authority. However, there still have many cases of abusing of e-customs process and classification of goods into Green and Yellow Channels to falsely declare the name, code, origin and category of goods for smuggling.
Accordingly, the department has issued decisions for administrative penalties for 282 violations and paid over VND1.8 billion to the State budget. In addition, the department has issued decisions to prosecute a criminal case for illegal transportation of goods across border gates with the value of infringing goods of VND1,376.142 million.
In April alone, the local department issued decisions to fine 52 violations worth over VND731 million.
The department has transferred profiles and advised the local government to issue Decision 28/QD-XPHC dated April 12, 2022 on sanctioning an administrative violation in the industrial property field for An Huy Trading & Import-Export Co., Ltd involved in transiting fake goods, including 6,000 sets of fake Adidas sportswear, 300 sets of fake Nike sportswear, 300 sets of fake Puma sportswear, 900 pairs of fake Nike sports shoes, 768 bottles of fake perfume of BLEU DE CHANEL, CHANCE CHANEL, 3,600 pairs of fake DIOR sandals, worth VND122,241,636, imposed a fine worth VND205 million and destroyed six categories of the fake goods.
The local Department said that in the near future smugglers may abuse e-commerce or express delivery to ship banned products, and illegal transport of goods across border gates and trade fraud in import and export activities may be complicated and unpredictable, the trick of smugglers may be more sophisticated such as mixing fake goods and low-quality goods.
The department has requested local customs branches to collect information related to enterprises, especially those that have been handled for this violation.
The department has also directed branches to strengthen customs control at checkpoints and goods storage sites, supervise warehouses and expedite online supervision to prevent smuggling, trade fraud in customs declaration, causing revenue loss.
In addition, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has installed modern machinery at the border gate and assigned them to the local customs department for container scanning.
In addition, the department has coordinated with competent agencies to collect information and monitor border crossings to prevent and arrest offenders; disseminated regulations on anti-smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border gate.
