Increasing the number of violated goods through screening

VCN - With the increase in the rate of screening import and export goods via container scanners, the HCM City Customs Department has detected an increase in the number of violations cases.

According to the HCM City Customs Department, in 2017, the unit has completed customs clearance procedures for nearly 2.8 million customs declarations, increasing by 6.3% over the same period in 2016. In that, there were 1,568,485 customs dossiers classified in green channel (accounting for 56.27%); Yellow channel were 1,039,652 dossiers (accounting for 37.2%); Red channel were 182,334 dossiers (accounting for 6.53%). The rate of detection of violations in the physical inspection of goods (red channel) was 0.87%.

Noticeably, in order to shorten clearance time, reduce the rate of physical inspection of goods, the HCM City Customs Department has increased the rate of goods inspection through the container scanners at the port border.

In 2017, there were 38,025 containers that were screened through a scanner, increased by 7.9% compared to 2016. In that, scanning in the clearance process was over 15,047 containers, increased by 48% over the previous year; advance scanning for imported goods clearance and post-clearance for exported goods was 22,978 containers.

Through the screening, the HCM City Customs Department has detected 49 cases of container violations, increasing by 63% compared with 2016, and rose by 270% compared to 2015.
