Ho Chi Minh Customs: Considering prosecution of importing banned goods related to 3 companies

3 businesses related to these smuggled goods includes: Trong Nguyen Import Export Commodity Logistics Transport Service Trading Company Limited, NDT Service Trading Company Limited and Pham Duc Service Trading Company Limited. All 3 companies have registered business addresses in Ho Chi Minh City and do not operate from them.

According to information from the reporter, the 3 companies had used many fraudulent tricks in the establishment of companies and Customs declaration to import 8 containers of banned goods into Vietnam for consumption, but these containers were detected and seized by Anti-smuggling force of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department at the port.

Especially, in the beginning of June 2017, Trong Nguyen Import Export Commodity Logistics Transport Service Trading Company Limited imported a shipment including 2 containers from Japan to Vietnam through Cat Lai Port- Ho Chi Minh City. The company declared the imported goods as plastic baskets. Suspected as smuggled goods, Customs Branch of Sai Gon Port Zone 1 collaborated with the Customs Enforcement Team-Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department and inspected and detected that the entire shipment was secondhand electronic goods in the list of banned imported goods.

On 4th July, at Cat Lai Port, Customs Enforcement Team-Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department chaired and collaborated with Customs Branch of Sai Gon Port Zone 1 to inspect the 2 containers imported by Pham Duc Service Trading Company Limited and detected that the shipment included secondhand air conditioners and refrigerators. This shipment was declared as plastic pipes to avoid inspection of competent forces.

At the same time, the Customs Enforcement Team detected that NDT Service Trading Company Limited imported many containers of goods from Japan to Cat Lai port with suspicious signs of smuggling. Thereby, the Team implemented specialized inspection for this shipment, which was declared as MDF under the regime of import for business. In order to prevent the Customs company law violation by NDT, in the beginning of July, the Customs Enforcement Team coordinated with the Customs Branch of Sai Gon Port Zone 1 to inspect 4 imported goods containers at Cat Lai Port. It detected that all the goods inside these containers were goods banned from import, including 1,000 air conditioners and hundreds of secondhand electric fans, electric rice cookers, refrigerators and dehumidifiers.

Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department has completed a dossier and discussed with People's Procuracy of Ho Chi Minh City to prosecute three cases of smuggling.
