HCM City seize 5kg of drugs hidden inside supplementary food jars

On January 6, 2021, HCM City Customs Department said that the unit worked with competent forces to continue successfully handle the illegal transportation of marijuana via Tan Son Nhat international airport, seizing 5.06kg of the drug.
By promoting information collection, grasping the situation of key routes for drug transportation, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch continued to detect suspicious signs in a number of cargo packages from Vancouver (Canada) transiting through Hong Kong and then back to Vietnam on Cathay Pacific Airways flight No. CX767 for a recipient in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. The unit conducted an inspection, and seized a large amount of the above drugs.

The suspects packed drugs in 20 nylon bags, then hid them inside jars of supplementary food and packaged them in confectionery packages and personal items to be sent to Vietnam in order to avoid the control of customs authorities.
This is the second seizure of drugs within a week which was also sent from Canada to Vietnam. Previously, on December 31, 2020, the customs authority handled a case of illegal transport of 27 nylon bags containing 4.72kg of marijuana.
Currently, the HCM City Customs Department is coordinating with the competent forces to conduct an extensive investigation in accordance with regulations./.
