According to the Division of Tax debt management and enforcement- Ha Noi Tax Department, in the recent times, the tax declaration and payment of tax payers have positive changes. Awareness on tax debt payment of tax payers has been improved and contributed to reduced tax debt at 30 June 2017 compared to the same period in 2016.

However, debt figures are still many mistakes due to different reasons (taxpayers, banks, treasuries, tax authorities and etc), but the cause of wrong debts of taxpayers accounts for high rate (up to 70%), because tax payers wrongly declared tax codes, sub-sections, tax payment obligation and insufficiently declared contents of tax declaration and etc, leading to inaccurate automatic tax accounting, arising wrong debts, virtual debts and incorrect reflection on tax payment obligation of tax payers. Thereby, putting pressure on Tax authority and affecting taxpayers upon receiving the tax debt notice.

Tax authority and tax payers have to spend a long time on reviewing, comparing and identifying right debt figures and correcting late payments due to mistakes.

Therefore, in the open letter, Ha Noi Tax Department expects taxpayers to well comply tax policies and law and promptly and accurately declare and pay tax in accordance with the law. At the same time, the Department requested taxpayers to collaborate with it to detect and correct in a timely fashion wrong tax debts and prevent wrong debts and virtual debts due to wrong writing on receipt, incorrect and insufficient declaration of a taxable obligation arising on tax declaration.
