GE signed agreements worth more than US $ 5 bn to support Vietnam's energy and aviation sectors

Ge announced series of important agreements in the state visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to the US, including agreements worth more than US $ 2 billion to support the development of Vietnam’s energy sector and agreements worth more than US $ 3.58 billion for CFM International aircraft engines and maintenance support – a joint venture between GE and Safran Aricraft Engines.

These agreements constitute the largest combined series of transactions the GE’s operation history in Vietnam.
The signed energy agreements include Memorandum of Understanding to co-develop 1500 MW gas power plants and joint development agreements on 800MW Phu Cuong Wind Farm in Soc Trang. During 24 years of operation in Vietnam, GE currently provides more than 30% of the country’s total power generation.
CFM International signed 2 agreements with VietJet Air, including a maintenance support agreement for 215 LEAP-1B engines and an agreement toward expanding A321 fleet using CFM’s engines.
These agreements also include financial supports from GE and base on technology and equipment from GE’s manufacturing facilities in the US.
GE and Petrovietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding to co-develop combined cycle turbine gas power plants Central Region I and II using gas from Blue Whale gas field, the Vietnam’s current largest gas field, with reserve of 150 billion cubic meters (equivalent to 5.4 Tcf). The Central Region I and II plants is expected to put into operation in 2023 and 2024. With professional capacity and experiences on global energy development, GE together with Petrovietnam will issue technology solutions for projects to ensure high efficiency, use effectively input materials and meet requirements on emission reduction. |
