One month to prevent two major cases of counterfeiting

On November 4, the Saigon Port Area 1 Customs Branch solicited the inspection of over 7 tons of Chinese fake imports of Vietnamese origin.

Previously, on November 2, 2019, at Cat Lai port, Saigon Port Area 1 Customs Branch in coordination with Customs Control Team - HCMC Customs Department, Economic Police Department 7- Police Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City Border checked the imported containers of Talalay Vietnam Rubber Co., Ltd.

According to Saigon Port Area 1 Customs, the enterprise opened an electronic customs declaration from October 25, declaring goods including 317 packages (7.2 tons) of blankets, mattresses, pillows, and exports made in China, worth nearly VND600 million. On November 1, the goods arrived at the yard and the customs office checked and discovered the fake goods originating from Vietnam. Accordingly, the labels of each product are inscribed with Vietnamese origin (Made in Vietnam). However, the outside of the box is marked "Made in China" in order to distract the customs office at the border when checking the goods. According to Customs Sub-department of Saigon port area 1, in addition to customs declaration, in the shipment dossier, the enterprise presents both China's C / O form E to enjoy the preferential tax rate of 0%, while this item is subject to a tax rate of 20-25%. In addition to counterfeiting origin, it is estimated that this shipment has evaded over VND100 million in taxes.

In less than a month, Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department discovered and seized two Chinese shipments of Vietnamese fake brands. Previously, on October 9, a shipment of nearly 8,500 items of clothing imported from China by Thinh Hoa Co., Ltd. (District 10, Ho Chi Minh City) forging Vietnamese and Korean origin detected by border-gate Customs Branch. Saigon Port Area 1 coordinates with the Customs Enforcement Team - Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, in collaboration with the inspection and discovery forces at Cat Lai port.

Check the suspected shipments at the highest level

It is known that Talalay Rubber Vietnam Co., Ltd. is located at 42 Cao Thang, Phuoc Long Ward, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa. This enterprise was newly licensed to establish in early August 2019, under a clean "background", but took advantage to violate customs laws and was promptly stopped by Ho Chi Minh City Customs at the border gate.

Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department believed that in the current situation of US-China economic tension, the enterprises can take advantage of Vietnam as a place to illegally transport imported goods from China bearing Vietnamese labels to export the goods to a third country.

Director of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department said that in the past as well as in the future, the unit has always determined that the fight against origin fraud, illegal transmission and counterfeiting of goods labels is a key duty. Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department directed subordinate customs departments to improve the sense of responsibility in implementing the tasks. In parallel, creating favorable conditions for import and export activities is the task of managing and preventing fraud and forging goods origin. The top goal is to prevent counterfeit goods originating from the border gates, not to enter Vietnam.
