VCN – Dong Thap Customs Department has discovered and handled many cases of transporting smuggled refined sugar through border gates.

On January 4, the Customs Enforcement Team under Dong Thap Customs Department coordinated with the Dong Thap Police to refined sugar and 1,000 packs of foreign cigarettes in Hong Ngu District, Dong Thap province.

These goods were gathered in the area near the Muong Mieu wharf. However, these smuggled goods have not been received.

Earlier, the Customs Enforcement team and Dong Thap Police discovered a truck carrying about 1 ton of refined sugar without an invoice.

According to Head of Customs Enforcement Team Nguyen Huu Tam, the smuggling of refined sugar has increased recently.

Smugglers have gathered goods at the border gate area and then transported them inland.

At the end of December, Dong Thap Customs and Polices seized 943kg of refined sugar without origin.
