“Divide cellphone into fractions” transported from South Korea to Noi Bai airport
On January 15, 2021, the Working Group of Unit 1 (Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department) worked with Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch of (Hanoi Customs Department) to check a truck with license plate No.51C while it was stopped at the position of receiving international goods in the warehouse of Noi Bai Cargo Service Joint Stock Company (Phu Minh Commune, Soc Son District, Hanoi) showing suspect signs.
The shipment was opened declaration by V-H Company Limited (Cau Giay District, Hanoi). The shipment was transported from South Korea to Noi Bai international airport.
The goods were declared as five lines: crepe plate for making shoe soles; plastic shoe last; rubber shoe soles; plastic buttons; and top zipper.
However, through the inspection, the Customs authority found many goods not included in the declaration were used telephone and cellphone components on the list banned from import.
The final inspection results identified the infringing shipment had 160 iPhone mobile phones; 65 Samsung phones and 70 components as the body of iPhone phones. All used goods were on the list banned from import.
Notably, according to the leader of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, the violation of the consignment was quite sophisticated when the subjects showed signs of "divide cellphone" into finished components and accessories.
However, those components and accessories were divided into two to three parts, numbered and only through a few simple steps it would be assembled into a complete phone.
The case is being verified, investigated and clarified.
