VCN – On June 15, all the transnational drug trafficking lines in large scale were destroyed by An Giang Border Defence force coordinated with special group of the Southern Border force, seizing more than 30kg of meth and thousands of tablets of synthetic narcotics.

Earlier, nearly 30 soldiers of units like Phu Huu Border Post, Long Binh Border Post, anti-drugs of An Giang Border Defence force and special group of Southern Border force to deploy forces throughout more than 10km along the river that borders between Vietnam and Cambodia to ambush.

At about 2:30 AM on June 14, the force discovered and detained at the same time six subjects riding on two motorbikes from Khanh An commune to Quoc Thai commune, including Phan Thi Bich Diem (born in 1989, residing in Chau Phu, An Giang); Phan Van Ngoi (born in 1963, residing in Chau Thanh - Tien Giang); Vo Van Hai (born in 1972, residing in An Phu, An Giang Province); Chan Toung (born in 1995, residing in Kandal Province, Cambodia); Mai Vinh Hau (born in 1999, residing in Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) and Le Van Cop (born in 1989, residing in Tri Ton, An Giang).

One of six subjects was seized

The working group found that the subjects were transporting 30kg of meth and about 10,000 tablets of synthetic drugs into Vietnam.

The subjects claimed that all of the above drugs were brought from Cambodia to Vietnam through the An Giang border area, then to be taken to Ho Chi Minh City and delivered to others for consumption.

Specifically, Mai Vinh Hau and Chan Toung claimed 30kg of white crystals as methamphetamine and 9,500 blue tablets as synthetic narcotics, which were transported from Cambodia to Vietnam by Nguyen Thi Bich Diem to take the payment of $200 for each person. After receiving the goods, Diem would transport to one person with the Facebook account name as Song Hor (unknown address).

Expanding the investigation, at 2:45 AM 2 on June 15, competent authorities arrested three people and searched an apartment in Hoa Binh Street, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City - one of the focal points of drug consumption in HCM City. The owner of the apartment claimed he had hidden a number of drugs in the safe. The force seized two more bags of meth and synthetic narcotics, including; 1kg of meth and 100 tablets of synthetic narcotics.

The case is continuing to be expanded and investigated by authorities.
