Customs strengthens prevention of animal smuggling

VCN – The General Department of Vietnam Customs directed the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department and local customs department to strengthen anti-smuggling and illegal transport of animals and animals products across borders work.

The leaders of the General Department of Vietnam Customs requested units thoroughly and effectively implement the Prime Minister's Decision 1632/QD-TTg dated October 22, 2020 approving the "National Programme on preventing and fighting against foot and mouth disease in the period 2021 - 2025”.

Heads of units are responsible for giving directives and urging units, based on their tasks, powers and the situation in the area, to strengthen professional measures to determine modes, tricks, and routes, smugglers illegally trading and transporting livestock and animal products; proactively formulate a strategic, effective plan and determined to prevent smuggling cases arising in management areas.

At the same time, coordinating with authorities and local authorities to exchange information, to detect and handle violations.

In Decision 1632/QD-TTg as mentioned above, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Finance to direct the Customs forces to lead and coordinate with competent units of ministries, sectors and local authorities in prevention of smuggling aminal and animal products through border gates.
