Customs launches anti-drug program in 2022

Following Dispatch 1497 dated March 10, 2022 of the Government’s Office on key orientations, tasks and programs for 2022 of the National Committee on AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control; the General Department of Customs requires units in the sector to focus on directing the implementation of many key tasks.

Specifically, customs units are required to effectively implement the key orientations and programs in 2022 of the National Committee on AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control.

Continue to implement Plan 6197/KH-TCHQ dated September 22, 2020 of the General Department of Customs on strengthening and improving the effectiveness of the fight against drugs and precursors; Plan 6256/KH-TCHQ dated December 31, 2021 on drug prevention and control for the 2021 - 2025 period of the Customs sector.

Concentrate on exploiting resources, effectively perform operations in two areas: prevention and combat of drug trafficking and illegal transportation; and control of legal drug-related activities.

The General Department of Customs assigns the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department to participate in formulating, reviewing and improving the legal system on drug prevention and combat, the sector's documents in accordance with the Law on Drug Prevention and Control 2021; and guide the implementation at all levels.

Guide the implementation and report the results of Action Month on Drug Prevention and Control, the International Day for Drug Prevention and Control and the National Day for Drug Prevention and Control in 2022 across the whole sector.

To assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with other forces inside and outside the Customs sector (including the Investigating Police Agency for Drug-related crimes, Border Guards, Coast Guard and drug prevention and control units under the local Customs Departments) to focus on detecting, fighting, and tackling large drug cases on border lines, border gates by road, sea, air, and post offices in the customs territory.

Coordinate with authorities including the Police, Industry and Trade, Health, Agriculture and Rural Development to strengthen inspection and control of activities related to drugs and precursors, to prevent domestic production of synthetic drugs.

The Customs Newspaper and the Office of the General Department of Customs were assigned to develop and diversify communication forms (programs, reports, documentaries, newsletters) for anti-drug activities.
