VCN – On November 16, Tien Giang provincial government issued a decision to fine Xin Dong Ya Vietnam Handicraft Co., Ltd for importing goods with fake Vietnamese origin and false declaration for non-taxable imports, Long An Customs Department said.

Accordingly, Xin Dong Ya Vietnam Crafts Co., Ltd. was fined VND5 million for making false declarations for non-taxable imports and VND100 million for import of goods with fake Vietnamese origin.

Long An Customs Department seized 194,700 eco-friendly bags worth over VND642 million as per regulations of Clause 2, Article 17 of the Government Decree 128/ 2000/ND-CP dated October 19, 2020.

On September 29, 2021, through inspection via a container scanner for a shipment of raw materials for export processing of Xin Dong Ya Vietnam Handicraft Co., Ltd (in Tan Phuoc district, Tien Giang province), the 1st Zone Saigon Seaport Customs Branch (under HCMC Customs Department) detected suspicious signs between the actual goods in the shipment and the statement in the declaration of the company.

Customs conducted a physical inspection of the shipment, My Tho SeaPort Customs Branch (Long An Customs Department) discovered that all the goods in the container were not raw materials, but 194,700 eco-friendly bags packed in cartons labeled "Made in Vietnam".
