One of the typical projects in the coordination work of Quang Binh Customs Department most recently was the case of the Customs Control Team (Quang Binh Customs Department) coordinating to arrest 2 subjects illegally transporting 26 kg of various types of drugs.

Talking to reporters, the leader of the Customs Control Team said that during the information exchange process, the Team coordinated with the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (PC04, Quang Binh Police) to organize forces to deploy a plan to closely coordinate and closely monitor all actions of the subject Nguyen Xuan Huyen (born in 1987, residing in Tran Xa village, Ham Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district). From the information collected, since the beginning of 2024, Huyen has entered and exited the country 4 times through the Cha Lo international border gate, and the most recent time was on August 26, 2024 when he left for Laos, then re-entered Vietnam on September 2, 2024. Continuing to monitor, the forces discovered Huyen moving into Kon Tum province, suspecting that he planned to receive goods in this area, the task force immediately organized forces to surround and arrest him.

On September 13, 2024, on National Highway 1A, through Sen Thuong 1 village, Sen Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province, the forces: PC04, Quang Binh Police coordinated with the Customs Control Team and functional forces to stop and arrest Huyen while he was sitting in a car with license plate 73A-30162, driven by Tran Quy Mao (born in 1986, residing in Hai Thanh ward, Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh) traveling from South to North.

Checking the trunk, the authorities discovered two green sacks containing 43 yellow rectangular packages and a plastic bag containing two smaller bags with tea leaf patterns. The total amount of drugs seized was up to 26kg, including 24kg of methamphetamine and 2kg of ketamine. In addition, inside the storage compartment on the passenger door, where Huyen was sitting, there was a hidden pistol with 7 bullets.

According to Nguyen Xuan Huyen's statement, previously, on September 12, 2024, Huyen used 120 million VND to go to Bo Y international border gate to meet a Laotian (name and address unknown) to buy drugs including methamphetamine and ketamine with the intention of reselling for profit. Upon receiving the goods, Huyen immediately carried the goods to the car to move with Mao to Quang Binh. While on the way to transport the goods to Quang Binh, Huyen was discovered and arrested by the authorities.

According to the Customs force on duty, the success of the project demonstrated smooth coordination; closely following and focusing on effectively implementing plans and directives from superiors on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, illegal transportation of goods and drugs across the border. In particular, the Customs Control Team regularly deployed professional measures to firmly grasp and control the situation on key routes and areas, etc.

Since the beginning of the year, the functional forces of Quang Binh province (including the Police, Customs, Border Guard and Coast Guard) have detected, arrested and handled 249 cases/402 subjects violating drug laws, prosecuted 166 cases/274 subjects, seized more than 131,194 synthetic drug pills and nearly 23kg of various drugs. Of these, Quang Binh Customs Department has coordinated with other forces to detect, arrest and handle 20 cases/27 subjects committing drug crimes.

Recently, at the meeting between the specialized forces in charge of drug prevention and control in Quang Binh province, Deputy Director of Quang Binh Customs Department Tran Van Trang stated that in the coming time, drug crimes will continue to increase, develop complicatedly and unpredictably on all routes, especially on the land and sea border routes. The forces determined that it is necessary to continue to strengthen the effective implementation of coordination work, resolutely fight, prevent, and focus on destroying major drug crime rings right from the border areas, border gates, at sea, and hot spots of drug crime and evils, preventing smuggling into the country.

“The forces continue to coordinate more closely, in depth and effectively, and develop specific coordination plans. Along with coordinating well in propaganda and mobilizing people to implement the Party's guidelines, policies and the State's laws on drug prevention and control, the forces need to coordinate to firmly grasp the area, do a good job of collecting and analyzing information, basic investigation and verification, resolutely fight against drug-related crimes, promote the combined strength to protect security, order and maintain territorial sovereignty and national border security, etc ", Mr. Tran Van Trang emphasized.
