On October 28, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department said Moc Bai Border Gate Customs Branch (under Tay Ninh Customs Department) coordinated with the Southern Anti-smuggling and Drug Enforcement Unit-Unit 6 (under the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department), the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crime (C04), the Investigation Police Division on Drug-related Crime (PC04) (under Tay Ninh Police) to tackle this case.

Specifically, at 10h15’ on October 27, at the luggage checkpoint at Moc Bai International Border Gate, Tay Ninh province, the Customs force inspected the luggage of Hai Dieb (born in 1993, residing in Con Leng Kol hamlet, Pun Sang ward, Prek district, P'nư, Phnom Penh city, Kingdom of Cambodia) and discovered suspicous signs in her suitcase.

As a result, the Customs force detected the suitcase had an extra compartment and there were five white packages wrapped in plastic bags.

Then, Customs used sniffing dog to inspect and identified these packages as drugs, weighting 5 kg and testing positive as methamphetamine.

Declaring to the Customs, Hai Dieb said at 5:30 on October 27, she bought a bus ticket with license plate No.3C-8686 of Long Phuong Cambodia Asia Co., Ltd at Olympic bus station, Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City and brought a black suitcase of her husband as OgBu Oliver Ejike to bring to a person in Ho Chi Minh City.

OgBu Oliver Ejike also said that there were 5kg of crystal methamphetamine inside the suitcase. When she transported these drugs to Ho Chi Minh City, a person would contact her and she would receive US$150.

The case is being investigated by competent forces.

According to the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department, the arrests were the result of the extension of the TN819 special case.

Previously, implementing TN819 special case, on September 22, Unit 6 coordinated with PC04 (Ho Chi Minh Police) and Moc Bai Customs Branch seized more than 13 kg of synthetic drugs hidden inside engine blocks transported from Phnom Penh to Vietnam.
