Recently, at Quy Nhon port - Binh Dinh, 2,825 tons of Ilmenite concentrate ore was loaded onboard a vessel and transported to Quang Ninh as scheduled.
After detecting suspected signs, Binh Dinh Customs Department actively alerted and informed the Anti-smuggling units of Customs, Coast Guard, Border Guards and Customs units at the point of vessel arrival in order to supervise and prevent violations.
According to Director Nguyen Van Dong, many Northern provinces such as Hai Phong and Quang Ninh did not buy Ilmenite concentrate ore, but there are many inland transports in order to ship that ore to these places. Thus, there are suspicions about illegal export of minerals by these ships.
Before Lunar New Year 2017, Binh Dinh Customs Department also warned of many ships transporting minerals from Quy Nhon port to the northern provinces, with a volume of over 15,000 tons, the unit also warned functional forces in order to prevent smuggling minerals.
The Ilmenite concentrate ore is an export item which must meet the allowed standards, and be licensed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, etc.
