An Giang: Truck seized transporting more than 1,400 packs of smuggled cigarettes

Smuggled cigarettes were seized by An Giang Market Management

According to An Giang Market Management Department, recently, the Market Management Unit 1 conducted an inspection for a container truck with license plates 67C - 090.62 driven by Truong Vu Minh at Chau Giang ferry of Le Loi road, Chau Phu B ward, Chau Doc city, An Giang province. The force discovered it contained 1,440 packs of smuggled cigarettes, including 500 packs branded Hero and 940 packs branded Jet.

This is the second case of smuggled cigarette seizure in the area since the country implemented social distancing. Previously, in the early morning of April 2, the Customs Enforcement Unit - An Giang Customs Department and An Giang Police - Economic Police Department collaborated to conduct patrols in the river route of Vinh Te canal at Trung Bac Hung hamlet, Nhon Hung commune, Tinh Bien. They discovered a motorboat transporting 15,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes, including 2,500 packs branded Jet and 12,500 packs branded Hero.

At the time of inspection, no one claimed to be the owner of the shipment. An Giang police are looking for the owner of this contraband.
