VCN – An enterprise which made a fraudulent C/O to import five containers of crude palm oil has been detected by HCM City Customs Department due to committing tax evasion of more than VND300 million.

According to HCM City Customs Department, in March 2020, through verification and receiving response document of competent authorities in Indonesia, HCM City Customs Department detected that certificate of origin (C/O) No.00231881/JKT/2018 dated December 28, 2018 issued for V.T.Đ Trading Co., Ltd. (located in Can Tho City) was fake.

This compay used the above C/O to enjoy a special preferential tariff for the shipment which was registered at Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch on January 29, 2019.

Base on findings of reporters from Customs News, this company imported five containers of crude palm oil via Cat Lai port. With the trick of making fraudulent certificate of origin, the imported goods of this company have been entitled to preferential tariff rate of 0% instead of 30%. The total amount of tax evasion from C/O was over VND311 million.

The case of the enterprise was made a record of administrative violations by Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch due to the act of using fraudulent and illegal documents and waiting for handling.
