The interdisciplinary training course takes place from May 23-25 in Ha Long, Quang Ninh. The training course is one of the contents in the Action Plan to execute the operation, aiming to strengthen inter-sectoral cooperation in combating wildlife trafficking and preventing drug-related and environmental crimes.

The training course was attended by 65 representatives from 35 local customs departments; the Drug-related crime investigation Police Department (C04) and the Environmental Crime Prevention Police Department (C05) under the Ministry of Public Security.

The lecturers of the course are experts from UNODC and the Regional Intelligence Liaison Office for Asia and the Pacific (RILO AP).

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training course, Deputy Director of the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department Vu Quang Toan emphasized the importance of the operation in the bilateral and multilateral cooperation of Vietnam Customs.

Operation Mekong Dragon 5 is also the largest operation in the Operation Mekong Dragon and Vietnam Customs series.

The GDVC has sent an official dispatch requesting the implementation of Operation Mekong Dragon 5 in the whole sector and 35 local customs departments. Law enforcement agencies have participated in the operation, specifically, the participation of C04 and C05.

Deputy Director Vu Quang Toan said that the training on technical work and the CENComm system would bring practical results in implementing the operation in the near future and the performance of officers.

After the opening ceremony, the contents on controlled delivery and crime scene management were taught by UNODC experts.

The contents on practical performance, planning and investigation skills and training on the CENComm system will also be provided by UNODC and RILO AP experts within the 3-day training.
