Top 500 largest Vietnamese enterprises for 2020 announced
The latest version marks the 14th consecutive year that the VNR500 has been announced as a means of honouring the achievements of the country’s most successful enterprises.
Featured on the list are Samsung Electronics Thai Nguyen Co Ltd, Vietnam Electricity (EVN), Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel), and Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex). They are joined by the likes of Vingroup, the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin), the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), and Mobile World Investment Corporation (MWG).
This year's VNR500 Ranking continues to recognise the significant growth of Vietnamese businesses operating in the service and industrial sector as they made up over 97.3% of revenue in 2019, while the agricultural sector only accounted for 2.7%.
Most notably, the sectors that contributed the most revenue to the VNR500 include engineering, construction, building materials and real estate, finance, transportation and logistics, along with telecommunications and information technology.
The report states the inclusion and ranking of each enterprise in the list are entirely objective and independent based on the weighted score of several main indicators which reflect their profitability, such as a Return On Assets (ROA), Return On Equity (ROE), in addition to pre-tax profits and revenue.
This year, the average ROA of listed Vietnamese firms reached 5.73%, representing a sharp increase compared to the 2.78% figure seen during the VNR500 Ranking in 2019.
Furthermore, the average ROE hit 16.24%, a boost of 2.44% compared to last year’s VNR500 Ranking.
Moreover, the Return On Sales (ROS) of Vietnamese enterprises in the VNR500 Ranking also witnessed an increase of 6.58% this year, 0.26% higher than last year.
Vietnam Report also announced the top 500 largest private enterprises.
The announcement and awards ceremony of this year’s VNR500 Ranking is set to be held in Hanoi on January 8, 2021.
