The share of the three largest markets in total telephone export turnover in April. Chart: Binh. |
Information from the General Department of Customs shows that in the first 15 days of May, export turnover of phones and components reached more than 1.7 billion USD. Compared to the same period in 2018, this increased by about 200 million USD.
Export results in the 15 days brought turnover from the beginning of the year to more than 17.7 billion USD, up slightly by 0.77% compared to the same period last year, equal to over 130 million USD.
The above increase in total export turnover of phones is negligible.
But as mobile phones and components exports fell in the four months of the year, the rise to regain growth of the largest export product group was significant.
A few days earlier, at the end of April, the export turnover of phones was still down 0.4% compared to the first four months of 2018. Phones and components were also the only main product group in the leading group (computers, phone products and components; textiles and garments) to fall in the first months of this year.
The decline in the turnover of mobile phones and components was also unusual compared to high growth rates in previous years.
In terms of markets, phones and components are mostly exported to the EU (28 countries), the United States and South Korea. The US market had the strongest increase, while the EU region is declining.
