VCN – Fourteen bags of Thai sugar that were smuggled and transported at the two sides of Thong Binh Border Gate to ship inland were seized by Dong Thap Customs.

According to Dong Thap Customs Department, the working team of Thong Binh Border Gate Customs of Dinh Ba Border Gate Customs Branch under Dong Thap Customs Department coordinated with Thong Binh Border Guard to seize 14 bags of refined sugar weighing 700kg.
Smugglers were transporting the sugar from Cambodia to Cai Cai river area in Phuoc Tien hamlet, Thong Binh commune, Tan Hong district, Dong Thap province and then shipping it inland.
When the smugglers detected the competent force, they left the infringing goods and did not receive the goods.
Currently, the working team has made a profile to handle the case.
Recently, Dong Thap Customs Department has continuously detected many cases of sugar smuggling across the border gate.
Following the direction of the Steering Committee 389 of Dong Thap province, the local department directed units to strengthen coordination with competent forces in the border area to inspect and control border gates and trails, border crossings, border-gate economic zones, waterways to promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle those who smuggle and illegally transport cigarettes and sugar across the border.
