The import turnover of telephones and accessories from China was nearly 2 times larger than the second position which was Korea with a total turnover of $US 3,578 billion.
Thus, only 2 markets China and Korea accounted for about 92% of the country’s total import turnover of telephones and accessories in 2016.
Notably, the US market with iphone only accounted for about 0.5% of Vietnam’s import turnover of telephones and accessories (nearly $US 54 million)
For the China market, besides telephones and accessories, there were many commodity groups having strong influences on the Vietnam market
According to the General Department of Customs, in 2016, the whole country imported goods from China worth $US 49,929 billion, increasing by $US 431 billion compared to 2015.
Of which, there were 10 commodity groups reaching the turnover of more than $US 1 billion. Topping was group of machines, equipment, tools and spare part with import turnover of $US 9.275 billion, accounting for nearly 33% of the country’s total import turnover of this group, outstripping the 2 following markets which were Korea (reaching $US 5.837 billion); and Japan (reaching $US 4,165 billion).

Some large import commodity groups from China were: cloth reaching $US 5.447 billion, accounting for nearly 52% of the country’s total import turnover; Iron and Steel accounting for nearly 59.1% in volume (reaching 10.85 million tons) and more than 55.5 % in value (reaching $US 4.451 billion); and Chemicals accounting for 31.4%.
