Preliminary assessment of Vietnam international merchandise trade performance in the first half of September, 2019

​Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the first half of September of 2019 totaled US dollars 357.87 billion in value terms. It posted a growth of 7.8% (equivalent to USD 25.98 billion) from the same period of the previous year

In the view of FDI traders, the value of exportation and importation in the first half of September reached USD 13.53 billion, down by 16.9% as compared to the second half of August 2019. Therefore, from January to September 15th of 2019, the total value of FDI merchandise trade went up 4.6% to US dollar 226.64 billion.

Export:

When compared with the second half of August-2019, export of the first half of September was down by 24.9%, mostly as a result of the climb-down registered in telephone, mobile phone and part thereof (down by 18.4% - USD 565 million); textiles and garments (down by 29.7% - USD 550 million); computers, electrical products and part thereof (down by 19.3% - USD 370 million); machine tools and equipments (down by 23.9% - USD 217 million); foot wears (down by 25.1% - USD 206 million)…

In the first half of September 2019, import was down by 11.6% when compared with the second half of August, mainly reflecting the shrunk of machine, equipment, tools and instruments (down by 16.2% - USD 269 million); telephones, mobile phones and part thereof (down by 22.6% - USD 220 million); coal and minerals (down by 52.4% - USD 108 million); computer, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof (down by 3.7% - USD 91 million); animal fodders and animal fodders material (down by 37.5% - USD 80 million);plastics (down by 14.3% - USD 57 million)…Import:
