Preliminary assessment of Vietnam international merchandise trade performance in the first half of March, 2018

​ Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of March was US dollars 19.06 billion, went up by 65.3% as compared to the second half of February-2018.

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the first half of March of 2018 totaled US dollars 87.46 billion in value terms. It posted a growth of 21.2% (equivalent to USD 15.3 billion) from the same period of previous year.

In which, the total merchandise exports value was up 26.5% to nearly US dollars 44.42 billion and the total merchandise imports value was up 16.2%, to US dollars 43.03 billion.

In the view of FDI traders, the value of exportation and importation in the first half of March reached USD 12.83 billion, up by 60.8% as compared to the second half of February-2018. Therefore, from January to March 15th of 2018, the total value of FDI merchandise trade went up 23.4% to US dollar 57.57 billion.

Export:

When compared with the second half of February-2018, export of first half of March increased by 94.1%, mostly as a result of the climb-up registered in telephone, mobile phone and part thereof (up by 70.7% - USD 1.12 billion equally); textiles and garments (up by 2.7 times - USD 788 million equally); computer electrical products and part thereofs (up by 53.6% - USD 370 million equally)…

Import:

In the first half of March 2018, import increased by 42.2% when compared with the second half of February, mainly reflecting the evolution of machine, equipment, tools and instruments (up by 53.1% - USD 452 million equally); computer, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof (up by 22.9% - USD 234 million equally); plastics (up by 74.1% - USD 178 million equally); petroleum products (up by 37.4% - USD 114 million equally); other base metals (up by 58.1% - USD 113 million), telephones, mobile phones and parts thereof (up by 32% - USD 108 million equally)…
