On China’s National Day, imports and exports at many border gates become quiet

However, Cao Bang Customs has still arranged human resources to handle procedures for individuals and organizations and perform the task of controlling and preventing smuggling and illegal cross-border transportation of goods.On the afternoon of October 1st, speaking to Customs newspaper, Deputy Director of Cao Bang Customs Department Le Viet Phong said up to now, the Department has not received a notice from competent authorities of stop operations of Chinese competent forces for China’s National Day. Normally, the import and export activities on China’s National Day are not remarkable.

Leaders of some Customs Branches under Cao Bang Customs Department said that on the first day of the National Day holiday, import and export activities are limited.

Typically, Ta Lung border gate Customs Branch - the largest border gate on the Vietnam-China border route in Cao Bang, the Branch’s leader said that every year, China have one week break for the National Day (from 1st to October 7th), so import and export activities through the border gate do not take place. The business community also grasps the Chinese holiday schedule, so they take the initiative in import and export activities.

"From morning to early afternoon of October 1, at the branch, there are no new declarations, customs officials only complete the clearance procedure sfor one declaration form registered by an enterprises late on September 30," Ta Lung Customs Branch’s leader said.

At border gate customs units in Quang Ninh such as Mong Cai Border Gate Customs Branch, Bac Phong Sinh Customs Branch and Hoanh Mo Border Gate Customs Branch, from morning to early afternoon on October 1, also did not generate import and export declarations because the Chinese side announced the National Day holiday from 1st to October 7th.

Specifically, at the Ly Hoa (China) - Bac Phong Sinh (Hai Ha district, Quang Ninh) border gate pair, the Ly Hoa border gate authority announced the National Day holiday from October 1st to October 7th and returning to work on October 8th.

In the Northern border gates bordering China, import and export activities in Lao Cai international border gate have the least change during the National Day holiday.

Talking to the Customs Newspaper on the afternoon of October 1, the leader of Lao Cai International border gate Customs Branch (Lao Cai Customs Department) said from morning to early afternoon on October 1, the unit handled procedures for 51 import and export declarations of agricultural products.

"According to the annual practice, on the China National Day holiday, the import and export activities at Lao Cai international border gate are still relatively normal, the number of declarations only slightly reduced compared to normal days," Director of Lao Cai International border gate Customs Branch said.

1. According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in October of 2024, a 5.2% upwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of September 2024. Exports went up 4.6 %, to USD 35.64 billion and imports increased 5.8%, to USD 33.60 billion in terms of month-on-month basis. As a result, there was a USD 2.03 billion surplus in Vietnam’s trade balance in this month.
