Import turnover increases by US$13.5 billion

According to General Department and Vietnam Customs, in the first half of April (from 1st to 15th), the total import turnover of the country achieved US$16.1 billion, and increase of 6.3% (equivalent to a rise of US$950 million) compared to the implementation result in the second half of March 2024.
This growth comes from many key groups of commodities as follows: Machines, equipment and components rose by US$192 million (equal to an increase of 10.1%); wheat increased by US$86 million (equivalent to a double increase); iron and steel of all kinds increased by US$83 million (equivalent to an increase of 17.5%)...
Overall, from the beginning of the year to the end of April 15, 2024, the country's total import turnover reached US$101.12 billion, increasing 15.4% (equivalent to a growth of US$13.5 billion) compared to the same period in 2023.
Product groups increased sharply compared to the same period last year such as computers, electronic products and components climbed by US$5.46 billion (equivalent to an increase of 24.3%); machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts increased by US$1.63 billion (equivalent to a rise of 15%); Iron and steel of all kinds rose by US$790 million (equivalent to an increase of 29.3%)...
In the country's total import turnover, FDI enterprises accounted for US$64.06 billion (equivalent to 63.3% of the country's total import turnover).
Regarding import markets, Vietnam imports goods from many countries and territories, but the largest markets are in Asia such as China, South Korea, ASEAN...
Notably, the import turnover from China alone is up to US$30.52 billion (updated according to the market of the General Department of Vietnam Customs by the end of March 2024), accounting for 35.87% of the total import turnover of the whole country.
