Vietnam's e-commerce market will continue to grow. |
According to market research firm Statista (Germany), by 2025, online sales will account for about 1/10 of Vietnam's total retail sales; and e-commerce market revenue will reach US$9 billion. Products such as beauty, home appliances, electronics, fashion, toys, and furniture are the fastest-growing sectors in Vietnam's e-commerce. The new retail model will have a strong impact on the traditional sales method.
According to Statista data, in 2017, the number of online consumers in Vietnam accounted for only about 28% of the total number of consumers. In 2020, the number of online consumers in Vietnam accounted for about 50%. It is estimated that by 2025, with a population of about 100 million people, the number of online consumers will account for more than 70%.
Vietnam's e-commerce business is rapidly catching up and surpassing other ASEAN countries. In the United Nations' 2020 e-commerce survey of 193 countries and territories, Vietnam ranked 86th, increasing by two places. The country has also actively improved and developed e-commerce with the goal of becoming one of the four major countries in Southeast Asia by 2025. Currently, Vietnam's 40 million online shoppers spend an average of about US$210/year, ranking second among ASEAN countries.
The country’s e-commerce market will continue to grow as the rate of internet users and smart mobile phone users increases, and people's confidence in online shopping also surges.
Notably, as an ASEAN country with a strong economy, in recent years, Vietnam has attracted the attention of a large number of Chinese companies. The Chinese companies have expanded their brands to the Vietnam market and cooperated with Vietnamese partners to expand the market, which has become a common desire of Chinese companies. Based on the supply capacity of Chinese companies and the demand of the Vietnamese market, the Cross-border e-commerce exhibition in Vietnam 2023 will be held from August 10-12 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC).
Industrial facilities and clusters from all over China, including cosmetics, home appliances, underwear, pet, kitchenware, and other popular industries in the Vietnamese market will participate in the exhibition.
In addition, the Vietnam Digital Economy Development Forum will be organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. It is expected that the forum will invite participants to share and discuss the development and future plans of the respective industry or businesses to seek cooperation opportunities, and invite representatives of e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and Tiktok to build a comprehensive development plan for the Vietnamese market, strengthen cooperation with Vietnam’s e-commerce operators and accelerate the digital transformation of the Vietnamese e-commerce market.
The exhibition will strengthen cooperation with Internet celebrities, Master of Ceremonies, and multi-channel networks (MCN), and through their promotion and operation on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to attract online sellers and sellers on exhibiting platforms.
The Cross-border e-commerce exhibition in Vietnam 2023 is not only a traditional goods exhibition, but it also will integrate overseas warehouses, logistics, distribution platforms, and effective cooperation with e-commerce platforms.
The exhibition will invite a large number of multi-channel networks, experts, Master of Ceremonies, and Internet celebrities, make full use of new media and marketing methods, use the resources of agency operators and implement live streams to connect sales channels and expand new markets for exhibitors. Dropshipping (selling without shipping), one-click buying, QR code scanning or ChatGPT, and other advanced technologies will strongly support e-commerce operators.
