Many foreign medical companies will join the exhibition. |
According to Mr. Hua Phu Doan, with an annual growth rate of about 18%, Vietnam's medical equipment industry is one of the 4 attractive industries for foreign investors. In 2016, the total investment for medical equipment was US$ 950 million; 2017 was US$ 1.1 billion, of which more than 90% of equipment were imported.
Equipment are mainly imported from Japan, Germany, the US, China, and Singapore (55%), the rest is imported from other countries. Equipment invested in public hospitals accounts for over 70%.
Mr. Doan said that medical equipment is heavily dependent on imported sources, because Vietnam has only 50 medical equipment manufacturers for medical examination and treatment for products such as beds…. Advanced equipment is mainly assembled, the localization rate is very limited, even lower than the localization rate of automobile assembly.
