According to Mr. Hua Phu Doan, with an annual growth rate of about 18%, Vietnam's medical equipment industry is one of the 4 attractive industries for foreign investors. In 2016, the total investment for medical equipment was US$ 950 million; 2017 was US$ 1.1 billion, of which more than 90% of equipment were imported.

Equipment are mainly imported from Japan, Germany, the US, China, and Singapore (55%), the rest is imported from other countries. Equipment invested in public hospitals accounts for over 70%.

Mr. Doan said that medical equipment is heavily dependent on imported sources, because Vietnam has only 50 medical equipment manufacturers for medical examination and treatment for products such as beds…. Advanced equipment is mainly assembled, the localization rate is very limited, even lower than the localization rate of automobile assembly.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Luan, General Director General of Mr. Nguyen Khac Luan, General Director General of Vinexad Company (Vinexad) informed that Vietnam Medi Pharm Expo will take place at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC), District 7, Ho Chi Minh City from 2nd to 4th August 2018, with the attendance of 350 enterprises from 20 countries and territories.

The products that dominate 35% of the exhibits this year are medical machines and equipment such as: consumables, laboratory, measurement and testing equipment; endoscopic equipment, operating room and home medical equipment, etc.

In parallel with the above exhibition, Zhejiang Yuanda International Exhibition Co, Ltd., and Vinexad Co, Ltd., organized the Zhejiang Export Fair in Vietnam with the participation of 106 enterprises.

With 150 stalls, the enterprises will introduce three fields: machinery, electrical equipment, electronics - five metals, construction materials and textiles and household products. The Expo aims to promote the opening of "two-way trade" between Zhejiang and Vietnam and stimulate endless sources of two-way cooperation.
