The meeting

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Do Hoang Anh Tuan appreciated ACCA's support and cooperation with the Ministry of Finance.

Currently, ACCA is supporting the Ministry of Finance in organizing in-depth training courses for those who are members of the Drafting Board of the Scheme on the application of International Accounting Standards into Vietnam. He proposed ACCA to pay more attention to maintaining this activity, especially in coordination with the International Accounting Standards Board (ISB) for in-depth training for some officers of the Ministry of Finance to implement this work.

In addition, together with the implementation of the Scheme on international financial reporting standards for enterprises, the Ministry of Finance is also interested in applying public accounting standards to public units. Mr. Do Hoang Anh Tuan hoped that ACCA will pay attention and support with specific activities.

At the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Finance said that in 2017, the Ministry of Finance has submitted to the Government for approval to upgrade the Department of Accounting and Auditing Regulations to Department of Accounting and Auditing Management and Supervision to enhance the monitoring function for this unit instead of developing regulations. Therefore, the Ministry of Finance expected ACCA to assist Ministry of Finance’s officers to attend international training courses on quality control of accounting and auditing services and to provide specialized documents to raise the efficiency of supervision.

Remarkably, according to the Deputy Minister, the Ministry of Finance has developed the Action Plan on the application of technology of the 4th industrial revolution in the field of finance - budget. The Ministry of Finance also expects ACCA to provide financial and technical support in the development of auditing and accounting applications, in particular the application of audit sampling software, auditing software, and human resources training. Information technology skills to better serve the job with today’s information technology for a strong development environment.

Prior to the Deputy Minister of Finance's Do Hoang Anh Tuan, Mr. Steve Heathcote fully agreed and wished to further promote cooperation between the Ministry of Finance and ACCA on the basis of result of the UK Deputy Minister of Finance's past visit

Mr. Steve Heathcote also invited the Deputy Minister of Finance to attend the International Public Sector Conference held by ACCA from 7th to 8th February 2019 in Prague, Czech Republic, with topics: support solutions for infrastructure investment, public finance management; the role of accounting-auditing in anti-corruption; Raising the role of the state auditing agency.
