Lang Son: Poultry smuggling is still hot issue

According to the assessment from Lang Son Customs Department, although the preventive measures for illegal trade and transportation are strengthened, the smuggling is still taking place complicatedly.

Statistics showed that from December 2016 to April 15, 2017, the units under the Lang Son Customs Department seized 7 cases of smuggled poultry with the value of nearly 200 million vnd. From March 16, 2017, to current time, the units seized 5 cases of live poultry which were being transported from China to Vietnam with worth about 183.3 million vnd at Chi Ma Border Gate (Loc Binh District, Lang Son province). Currently, the Chi Ma Border Gate Customs Branch transferred over 3,800 ducklings and 10,300 chickens to the Chi Ma Quarantine Checkpoint to destroy in accordance with regulations.

In order to well prevent the spread of disease in Lang Son border area, Lang Son Customs Department directed the sub-units to strengthen inspection, control, and supervision at the trails and tracks and prevent the illegal trafficking and trading of poultry and poultry products.

Talking to the correspondent of the Customs Newspaper, representative of Lang Son Customs Department stressed that the Department would also closely collaborate with the competent forces in the area such as: Border Guard, Police, Marketing management forces and local authorities to patrol, control and prevent effectively. At the same time, the Department closely coordinated with other competent authorities such as: health and animals quarantine agencies in the handling of smuggled goods which were seized.
