Lang Son: Imports and exports bustling during the National Day holiday

VCN - Although this year's National Day holiday lasts four days, customs clearance activities at six border gates in Lang Son province still usually occur.

Operates 24/7

The Management Board of Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone said that following the motto " productivity is paramount to the time it takes to complete the task" during the National Day holiday, the border gates in Lang Son still usually operate. During the four-day holiday, authorities take turns on duty to create maximum conditions for businesses to carry out goods import and export activities.

There are currently six border gates in Lang Son, including Huu Nghi International Border Gate, Chi Ma Border Gate, Dong Dang International Railway Station, Tan Thanh, Coc Nam and Na Hinh border gates. All border gates recorded normal operations during the holiday. The Customs authorities provided goods with maximum conditions for the fastest clearance.

The volume of vehicles carrying goods through the province is stable, with about 500-600 vehicles per day. The primary export goods include fresh fruits, agricultural products, and aluminium alloys, and the primary imported goods are cars and motorbike spare parts, iron and steel products, textile and garment materials, leather and shoes, rubber products, aquatic products, wood products, computer components, paper products, machinery, equipment, tools, electrical household appliances, chemicals, chemical products, aquatic products glass, plastic products, fabrics of all kinds.

Ms Tran Thi Hang, Thai Viet Trung Transport Joint Stock Company, said that Huu Nghi International border gate maintained normal customs clearance activities during the 2/9 holiday. Most of the exported goods were still fruits. However, some businesses let their workers off work these days, so the number of vehicles was also lower than usual. For example, the company imports and exports more than 30 vehicles per day on average, but on September 2, there were only 10 imported and 10 exported vehicles.

Tan Thanh border gate, according to the representative of Tan Thanh Customs Branch, Tan Thanh border gate receives about 160-180 export vehicles and about 200 import vehicles per day. During the holiday, the number of imported goods vehicles passing through Tan Thanh border gate increased due to increased demand for fresh fruit, an average of about 200-230 vehicles/day. Fresh fruits exported to China at the border gate are mainly jackfruit, dragon fruit, bananas, durians, etc.

Other border gates still maintained 300-400 vehicles per day. Import-export activities at border gates during the holiday took place as usual. In particular, the authorities all work together to ensure security checks and customs clearance to avoid prolonging customs clearance time and affecting the quality of products and production plans of businesses.

In addition, according to the representative of Lang Son Customs Department, to speed up clearance, the Department has directed border gate customs units to continue trade facilitation measures and strengthen information to businesses to comply with customs procedures and actively manage their import and export activities. The Customs agency always arranges for officials to handle customs procedures and supervise import and export goods outside of official hours, weekends and holidays and coordinates with warehouse operators to create conditions for arranging the location of vehicles while waiting for export.

Provide maximum supports

Statistics from the Lang Son Customs Department show that, in the first eight months of the year, the total turnover of all types of import and export (business, transit, border gate transfer, independent transportation) reached US$ 31,070.62 million. Of which, the import-export turnover of the declarations at Lang Son Customs Department rose 93.3% year-on-year to over US$3,003.3 million.

The rise in the trade turnover at Lang Son Customs Department is due to the trade facilitation for imports and exports at the five border gates in the province. In addition, the Na Hinh - Keo Ai auxiliary border gate pair restored operation in August.

In addition, Lang Son Customs Department coordinated with other agencies to collect 319,935 billion VND in fees for using border gate infrastructure and handled procedures for 720,086 entry and exit passengers.

As of August 29, Lang Son Customs Department remitted to the state budget VND3,317 billion, up 15.74% over the same period in 2022 and reaching 55.29 % of the assigned target.

Speaking to the reporter, Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh, Director of Lang Son Customs Department, said that not only the four days of the National Day holiday but all the time, the unit has been actively implementing many solutions to provide maximum support for customs clearance within the same day for exported agricultural products; immediately solves problems arising during the implementation of customs procedures for exporting goods; closely and regularly exchanges information with the quarantine agency to speed up procedures for enterprises.

The unit has actively simplified customs procedures, shortened clearance time, created maximum conditions and implemented fast customs clearance; arranged staff to handle customs procedures and supervise exported goods outside of working hours, days off, and holidays.

At peak periods, the unit has proactively issued documents to temporarily guide not to inspect the preservation of goods at the preservation place, as well as a guide to consider not sanctioning administrative violations in the field of customs for violations of regulations on time limit for customs procedures due to force majeure situations.
