Scrap are imported via Cat Lai Port

According to Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch of Zone 1, 115 scrap containers were imported at Cat Lai Port in 2017 and 2018. However, these goods are declared ondossiers and documents as general goods rather than scrap.

As of February 28, the Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch of Zone 1 detected 115 scrap containers (equivalent to 234 teus) not yet received. To handle this scrap, the branch has notified to find owners of these shipments.

Previously, more than 2,000 scrap containers imported at Cat Lai Port has been inventoried and classified by the branch.

Of which, 25 containers were re-exported. More than 100 containers have been locked; nearly 300 containers wereinvestigated, more than 160 containers have opened customs declarations but have not been received.

To handle these backlogged goods, the leader of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department has requested the branch to actively coordinate with the Saigon Newport Corporation to accelerate the classification and handling of this scrap to release goods for Cat Lai Port, attracting import and export activities.
