Information safety for e-government

Vietnam’s Information Security Allocation and Monitoring System for the digital government has made its debut, aiming to ensure cyber security and safety for Vietnam’s e-government.

As in many other countries, Vietnamese public and private agencies, organizations, and businesses have been hacked while connected to online administrative services.

The system is a joint project by an alliance against malware and cyber attacks, which comprises 5 Vietnamese technology corporations – BKAV, Viettel, VNPT, FPT, and CMC. The system will analyze transactions and give early warnings to ministries, sectors, and localities to ensure cyber security for e-government.

Information safety: a vital condition for e-government

The Vietnamese government has identified 4 pillars of e-government: human resources, procedures, IT, and financial resources. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc says spending on cyber safety and security should be at least 10% of the total IT budget.

Cyber security is vital to the national digital transformation and building a digital government. Cyber security is measured by the ability to prevent attacks and respond to attacks.

We must be more careful. People are paying attention to cyber security,” said Tran Quang Hung, Director of the National Cyber Security Monitoring Centre.

Be active

All IT projects must have a cyber safety and security component. In addition to the e-government Information Security Allocation and Monitoring System for the Digital Government, Vietnam will launch more projects in the future.

The Ministry of Information and Communications will assign specific tasks to businesses to develop a cyber safety and security ecosystem for building an e-government, smart cities, and a national information system.

A business alliance will be established to cooperate and help each other develop products and services,” said Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, also Vice Chairman of the National Committee on e-government.

Minister Hung said cyberspace is Vietnam’s prosperous future and ensuring cybersecurity is synonymous with building for the future.
