According to the latest statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first half of December, the whole country imported 7,048 automobiles of all kinds, with a total turnover achieving more than $US 192 million. In that, cars under 9 seats were 991 units, truck were 4850 units.

The above result increased sharply from the second half of November, even surpassing the import volume in this month. The reason is that by the end of November, only 2,931 cars were implemented import procedure (including 267 cars under 9 seats). In November, the country imported only 6,427 cars with total turnover reached nearly $US 186 million.

Remarkably, the volume of import completed cars under 9 seats in the first half of December was still higher than the total import volume in the past several months, as in November there was only 592 cars; October was 878 vehicles; September was 908 cars, ...

The import volume of automobiles increased dramatically in the first half of December which is notable information because this is not a valid time for applying the import preferential tariffs of ASEAN Trade in Goods (ATIGA), that will reduce the import tax on cars from ASEAN to 0% (valid day will be 1/1/2018).

By 15/12, total volume of imported automobiles reached 90,611 units, total turnover was nearly $US 2.1 billion. In that cars under 9 seats were 35,977 units, total turnover was $US 659 million.

Therefore, in comparison with the same period of 2016, import completed cars have declined sharply in both volume and value with the decrease figure of 16,684 vehicles, turnover was $US 196 million respectively.
