Import tax exemption for import goods of three airlines

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue has agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Finance on the import tax exemption under the international agreements for three airlines which are Cathay Pacific Airways Limited, Federal Express Corporation and Japan Airlines.
Accordingly, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Finance to handle and direct the Customs units to strictly supervise and control the import and use of duty-free goods of the three above airlines for the right purposes and right subjects as prescribed.
Under the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister, the import and use of duty-free goods of Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (Cathay Pacific) must be for the right purposes and subjects described in Article 8 of the Agreement on Carriage by air between Vietnam’s Government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region signed on 10th September 1999; of Federal Express Corporation Airline must be for the purposes and subjects specified in Article 9 of the Agreement on Carriage by air between Vietnam’s Government and the United States of America on 14th April 2004 ; and of Japan Airlines must be for the right purpose and subjects described in Article 5 of the Agreement on air services between Vietnam’s Government and Japan’s signed on 23rd May 1994.

Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister also agreed to exempt tax for imported goods of Singapore Airlines in accordance with international treaties.
