HCM City Tax Department: Coercing and recovering more than 9,500 billion VND of tax debt

According to Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department, in 9 months of 2018, this authority has issued nearly 2.9 million announcements of tax debt; Issued over 25,000 tax enforcement decisions, with total amount of tax debt of over 10,300 billion VND.
At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department disclosed information via mass media 3,800 times to taxpayers who intentionally delay to pay tax on time ... The total amount of money collected through tax enforcement measures in the past nine months was 9,500 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Binh, Deputy Director of Tax Department of Ho Chi Minh City said that as of 31/10/2018, total tax debt owed to Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department is more than 23,000 billion VND, in that recoverable debt is more than 11,433 billion VND; debts being processed are 544 billion VND, debts under complaints are 916 billion VND, and more than 10,000 billion of debts are bad debts.
In particular, tax debts are mainly for taxes such as VAT of more than 6,000 billion VND, business income tax accounting for nearly 3,000 billion VND, land rental of more than 1,600 billion VND, and land use fees with more than 1,000 billion VND...
