Hanoi has exposed 144 units of tax debt in the beginning of 2018

In that, there are 3 projects owing over 9 billion VND of ground rent and 141 enterprises owing over 55.9 billion VND of tax and fees. The Electrical Material and Mechanical Group Joint Stock Company is in the top list of ground rent debt with over 6 billion VND. Additionally, Hanoi Construction and Engineering Electronic Trading Company Limited also owes ground rent debt of over 10 billion VND.
It is known that, in 2017, the debt management and tax debt enforcement are considered one of the highlights of the Hanoi Tax Department. According to the report of the Hanoi Tax Department, through measures and solutions, the debt collection in 2017 is estimated at 12,784 billion VND (reaching 100.6% of the debt collection target, increasing by 0.9% over the year of 2016). Total debt which is over 90 days, as of 31/12/2017 has decreased by 22.2% compared with 31/12/2016.
In 2017, Hanoi Department of Taxation coordinated with other departments and branches to invite enterprises and investors owed tax debts and have cash flow, to come to tax offices for working out a solution in order to solve difficulties and obstacles for the unit. At the same time, persuading and urging the units to pay the amount of tax debt into the state budget. If the enterprise deliberately fails to pay tax to the state budget, Hanoi Tax Department advises the Hanoi City People's Committee to organize meetings and direct the debt collection.
In parallel with that, the Hanoi Tax Department always implements seriously the Government's Directive and Resolution on hearing difficulties and problems of enterprises in the area, including tax debt to support and promote business development.
Especially for difficulties and problems of enterprises’ debt involved in land projects, Hanoi Taxation Department regularly coordinates with related departments to find solutions to solve difficulties, consider extensions, debt cancellation, delayed payment ... as prescribed to open cash flow, create conditions for enterprises to generate revenue to the state budget, and help investors recover debt.
In 2017, the Hanoi Tax Department disclosed 1,596 enterprises and projects that owed tax debt with the total amount of public debt of 3,645 billion VND. As a result, 563 enterprises and projects have paid 297 billion VND to the state budget.
Thus in 2018, the Hanoi Tax Department will continue to implement drastic measures to recover tax debts, ensuring good performance of revenue collection.
