Detecting many violations through screening
Lao Cai Customs is equipped with mobile container scanning machine, which has contributed to improving the efficiency of state management of customs. |
In the first quarter of 2023, the Customs sector has conducted scanning for 20,655 containers (average of 491 containers per day).
Compared to the same period in 2022, the total number of containers scanned of the whole sector in the first quarter of 2023 increased by 14.42%. The reason is that some customs management areas added more container scanning machines, such as Hai Phong (2 machines); Vung Tau (2 machines), Ho Chi Minh City (2 machines); Lao Cai (1 machine), Quang Tri (1 machine).
Also, through scanning, the Customs force detected 1,128 suspicious containers (accounting for 5.46% of total scanned containers), and detected violations of 88 containers (accounting for 7.8% of total suspicious containers).
The main violations are transporting banned goods, declaring incorrect types and quantities and importing goods without declaration.
Typically, through selection and inspection via screening, two shipments of ivory hidden over 600kg from Africa were seized at Lach Huyen port, Hai Phong.
Also, in the first quarter of 2023, through key identification and application of risk control measures for shipments transported through seaports, 34 consignments classified to green and yellow channels were detected in violation.
