Customs seizes 100 kg of drugs hidden on passenger car

VCN – The Anti-Drug Enforcement Team under Quang Tri Customs Department has coordinated with other enforcement agencies to bust a special case, arrested nine Lao suspects and seized 100 kg of methamphetamine.

Customs seizes 100 kg of drugs hidden on passenger car

Suspects and drugs are arrested by the enforcement agencies.

The information was released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs on April 2, 2024.

At 5:30 p.m. on March 30, 2024, at Km 73+400 National Highway 9 in Lang Vay village, Tan Long commune, Huong Hoa district, Quang province Tri, Anti-Drug Enforcement Team, Quang Tri Customs Department collaborated with provincial Border Guard and Police to tackle a drug ring from Laos to Vietnam.

Through the investigation and inspection, the enforcement agencies arrested 9 suspects (including five men and four women) residing in Pakading district, Borikhamxay province, Laos, for illegally transporting 100 kg of methamphetamine.

Drugs are seized by the enforcement agencies.

Notably, all drugs were hidden by smugglers on the ceiling of a passenger car with Lao License plate 6689 entering from Laos to Vietnam.

Currently, all drugs and suspects have been transferred to competent agencies for further investigation.

The achievement shows the drastic direction by the leaders of the General Department of Vietnam Customs in the fight against drug-related crimes of the Customs industry in 2024. The Customs force has actively coordinated with Border Guards, Police... in tackling crimes, contributing to improving the effectiveness of collaboration in the fight against drugs.
