Big real estate enterprises owe big tax debts

Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department recently announced a list of 333 tax debtors, with the total amount of tax debts, fines and late payment interest of nearly VND 300 billion. Of which, there are quite a lot of real estate enterprises that owe large amounts of tax.
Van Phat Hung JSC, headquartered in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, has a debt of VND 35.1 billion as of 30th June 2018. At present, Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department has applied coercive measures by preventing the use of invoices by this company.
The second biggest tax debtor is Cotec Investment and Construction JSC (District 1, HCM City) with a tax debt of VND 29.1 billion. In this case, Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department has requested the competent authorities to revoke the business registration certificate of this company.
Followed by Khai Hoan Land Real Estate JSC, headquartered in District 7, with a tax debt of VND 27.4 billion; Nhut Thanh Consultancy - Investment - Construction - Trade JSC, headquartered in Binh Chanh district with a debt of VND 17.5 billion; Thang Long Real Estate Trading Joint Stock Company in District 4 owes VND 9.8 billion; and Nam Trung Trading Construction Company in District 4 owes nearly VND 4.4 billion.
Earlier, during the announcement of tax debtors in early July, 2017, of the 1,258 companies owing tax debts, with a total debt of over VND 1,556 billion, many well-known real estate enterprises owe several billion to several tens of billion of tax.

According to Mr. Le Duy Minh, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department, the Department has imposed coercive measures for the above tax debtors such as: Blocking their bank accounts to deduct to the State budget; preventing the use of invoices and requesting the competent authorities to revoke their business registration certificates.
