61 cases of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods handled

According to the latest information from the General Department of Customs, from early 2021 to the end of the third quarter, the customs force worked with the police to detect 50 cases of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border with the value of infringing goods of more than VND2,222 billion and eight offenders.

In addition, the Customs agency in coordination with the police agency handled 18 drug cases and arrested 19 suspects.

The police agency presided over and coordinated with the customs force to detect 11 cases of smuggling and illegal transportation across the border, arresting seven offenders and seizing infringing goods valued at more than VND353 million.

Moreover, the police force presided over and worked with customs to handle 17 drug cases and arrest 21 suspects.

Thus, the customs and policies seized 61 cases of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border and 35 cases of drugs.

Earlier in 2020, the customs force worked with the police to detect 110 cases of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border, with infringing goods worth VND34,335 billion; and arrested 32 suspects; handled 23 drug cases and arrested 11 suspects; and handled one case of intellectual property infringement and counterfeiting.

Meanwhile, in 2020, the police force presided over and coordinated with the customs force to detect 82 cases of smuggling and illegal cross-border transportation, arresting eight offenders and seizing more than VND4.05 billion of infringing goods; and handled 58 drug cases and arrested 78 suspects.
