On November, the Customs Enforcement Team under Quang Tri Customs Department detected suspects transporting and gathering goods in Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa District.

The suspects left bags of goods and escaped when the customs officers detected them.

The officers seized 60 bags of sugar, with a total weight of 3 tons, made in Thailand.

Currently, customs has made a report on administrative violations, seized all the sugar and identified the owner of the goods.

According to the team, the illegal transportation of foreign cigarettes and liquor has sharply decreased.

However, the methods of smugglers have not changed. Smuggled goods are transported across tracks and border crossings.

After smuggled goods are transported across border gates, perpetrators hire people to transport goods across border crossings to warehouses in Lao Bao Town and other communes along the border.

Then goods will be transported on trucks or cars to Dong Ha City and neighboring provinces.
